MauSign CA will provide the following key functions:

Introduction

MauSign CA was initially created with the mission to have a role of Licensed CA for the validation of user’s digital identity over public and private network. The roles and responsibilities of MauSign CA are:
  1. 1)Operate and manage its Certificate Authority system according to the provisions of the Electronic Transactions Act 2000 and its Regulations, the CCA directives and the MauSign CA Certificate Practice Statement (CPS).
  2. 2)Issue, renew and reissue digital certificates to citizens, corporate and servers of corporate
  3. 3)Register Corporates as Application Service Providers to offer esign service to Citizens
  4. 4)Provide esign service to corporate to generate digital signatures for citizens who are holders of MauPass 2FA
  5. 5)Publish Certificates Revocation Information through CRL and OCSP service
  6. 6)Handle revocation request regarding certificate issued by the CA
  7. 7)Provide notification of issuance, revocation, suspension or renewal of its certificates.
  1. - MauSign CA issue digital certificates using Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), which guarantee confidentiality, integrity, authentication and non-repudiation in electronic transaction and communication.
  2. - MauSign CA play a crucial role in laying the foundation of our information society, including involvement in electronic commerce, electronic banking and electronic government.
  3. - MauSign CA has an important task to increase confidence between parties carrying out electronic transactions in Mauritius's cyber-space.

Legal Effects of MauSign CA

The digital signature generated by digital certificate which is issued from accredited CA has the same effect as hand written signature by the Law governing Information and Communication Technologies.
